Valentines Day Sugar Cookies

We love Valentines Day so much, we are going to be celebrating all week! First up, Mocha has one of his favorite sugar cookie recipes to share with you. A family recipe from his grandmother, you just have to try it to believe it!

IMG_3760You Will Need:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup butter
  •  1 cup sugar
  •  1 beaten egg
  •  2 tablespoons milk
  •  1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions:

Step 1: In ONE bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Step 2: In a SECOND bowl, mix butter and sugar together.

Step 3: In the SECOND bowl mixture, blend in your beaten egg, milk and vanilla.

Step 4: Blend in the ingredients from the first bowl into the mixture in the second bowl. Do this slowly. If it is too difficult to mix the ingredients with a spoon or fork, don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty!

Step 5: Chill the mixture for at least an hour, but no longer than two hours.

STOP! While you’re waiting, HAVE A SNACK!

Step 6: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

Step 7: Roll your dough to about 1/8th of an inch in thickness on a floured surface. Cut into hearts (for valentines day, of course!) or any shape of your desire!

OPTIONAL: Decorate your cookies with some sprinkles!

Step 8: Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for ten minutes (your cookies should not have browned when they are finished).
